MG MGA - Engine bay refitt order?
My '56 A threw a rod last Fall, so I pulled the engine. And since the engine and tranny were out, might as well replace the wiring... and repaint the engine bay ... and put in new hydraulic lines ... and the floorboards are pretty ratty, etc. So now I have a freshly painted engine bay, a rebuilt engine (I had a spare 1600 block fortunately), and I'm ready to refit everything. I've looked through all of my books and magazines, but can't find anything that recommends an order to reinstall items. I'm worried I'll learn too late what needs to go in first, which will cause me to lose my mind/skin installing everything after that. Does anyone know of a resource that gives a recommended order I can follow? Any help would be appreciated. |

If you have done the brakes and wiring, go to the shop manual and it will have the order to reinstall everything. My suggestion is to intall the trans first then the engine and every thing else should be easy. |

If you have a bare engine bay, then I would suggest the following order. It's easier to do some things standing IN the engine bay, but I have no idea what size you are.... Wiper motor All the odd stuff on the heter shelf Wiring MC, Brake and clutch lines Washer bottle Heater (leaving it till this point allows access thru the hole for mounting the other stuff) Air Hoses on radiator duct panel Propshaft gearbox and slave Engine Starter Oil hoses and filter Oil Cooler distributor Dynamo Coil Speedo and Tach cable exhaust manifod Radiator Carbs and filters Choke cable Set Valves Fan Valve cover Accelerator cable Anything left |
