MG MGA - Engine Block Dowels
The rear of the engine block has two dowels, in addition to the bolts, to attach the rear engine plate. Has anybody replaced the rear plate on their engine? Have they had any problem with the fitting of the plate over the dowels? In production dowels and their holes are accurately placed for location purposes while the holes for bolts are a bit oversize for ease of fitting without any binding. Putting this another way, are the plate and block matched sets? The Service Parts List shows them as being available individually. Mick |

The dowel holes are jig bored in both block and plate for accurate position. Plates should be interchangeable. |
