MG MGA - Engine Block Eyebrow Template?
It will be too hot to drive soon so it is finally time to remove my engine to: replace the clutch/flywheel (from an early MGB) replace the gearbox layshaft add a rear seal (yeah! the rear plate has finally been machined) add an MGB timing cover replace the rocker pedestals from an MGB slap a new Crane cam/lifters/pushrods This last one may require the cutting of eyebrows in the engine. In fact, better safe than sorry as my engine already runs at high compression, possibly due to a milled head and or engine block from the PO. I may even be adding a B-head in the future. Once again Barney's site has the information I need, well organized and detailed. My problem is that I am the worst, and I do mean worst, measurer. I can measure 10 times and still make a mistake. It is not a fault I am proud of, but I am working on it. It seems easy enough as the valves are centered on bore, but I know there is room for error. Would anyone happen to have a schematic or template of the top of the block that could be used as I guide? or some tips on ensuring I have the center of the bore? |
