MG MGA - Engine Block Numbers

While I was under my car changing the oil filter, I noticed some numbers on the block which I hadn't seen before. They were underneath the generator. (The engine number is 15GB UH 37807 - a 1958 1500 roadster) The numbers were IH858 AF7 22.1.8. Can anyone tell me what these numbers refer to?
