MG MGA - Eugene repair shop
Months back, someone was talking about sending their daughter to the University of Oregon with the MGA, and was asking about local repair shops. Yesterday, my sister's husband had the clutch on his midget malfunction 120 miles miles from home, as we pulled into a parking lot in Eugene. I drove him over to the nearby Sports Car Shop on 6th Avenue about 4:00 PM. They agreed to look at it immediately if he could get it there. Lurching along on the way to the shop, the clutch began to function normally. Nonetheless, they put the Midget on the lift and gave the slave cylinder and linkage a thorough examination. There appeared to be nothing out of the ordinary; they suspect that something was temporarily stuck. After spending a good 15 minutes examining the car, they sent Gary on his way without charging him a penny. He made it all the way home without trouble. Although the mystery wasn't completely solved, we were very impressed with the helpfulness, honesty and integrity of the staff and management of the Sports Car Center. Ken |

Now, that's cool. I was the guy asking about shops in Eugene and this summer had the chance to visit Sports Car Shop as we were leaving town. This was an obviously busy shop but they took the time to show us around and we really enjoyed the restored cars on display in their showroom. As for my daughter's MGA eventually moving to Eugene the shop owner offered to store the car if we wanted to ship it up early. I was very favorably impressed. |

David, The Sports Car Shop looks to be well staffed, organized, and tidy, as well as competent, helpful, and honest. My only reservation is that they seem to deal mostly with more high-end cars than ours, and might be a bit pricey. I really liked the Healy 100 in the showroom. But they didn't hesitate to take a beautiful Twin Cam off of the lift to look at my brother-in-law's Midget. Has your daughter found a garage with an apartment in Eugene yet? Ken |

Ha-ha! She's moving into the dorm in 2 weeks which is mandatory for freshmen at U of O. We are looking for the garage with an apartment attached in this next year. Thanks for asking. David |

Here's my brother-in-law's Midget next to the Healey streamliner in the Sports Car Shop. The recreated Healey was the star of the show at the Portland All British Field Meet the weekend before, and was on its way to the Salt Flats for another go at the record book. Ken |

Also at the All British Field Meet, a 1959 MGA coupe belonging to Ralph & Michael Zbarsky, in the Columbia River Classic vintage races. Ken |
