MG MGA - EX182 History

Great that Jerry car is out of storage. Any relation to John Savage who I race with in the VSCCA? Very neat car, like so many old race cars that have stayed out of the public eye. I saw Jerry with the car at Lime Rock fifteen years ago. The car still retained four wheel drum brakes and conventional pushrod engine. The Westlake cylinder head with external balance pipe is long gone. EX 182 which sported a custom "Droop Nose, had one race with a Morris twin cam engine, and front disk brakes. This car is LBL 301. Jerrys car is supposed to LBL 303 which is the Lund which finished 17th. No EX 182 carried a conventional Twin Cam engine. The Austin twin cam engine was pulled out of the other Ex 182 car, and the pushrod engine was put back. This was the Austin Tourist Trophy. The cars never raced again, except for a record attempt at Monthlery. The two style Austin and Morris twin cam engines were never used again. If KTR is going to do the restoration, they always do a first calss job. Hope you keep the car as per noted Historians Bob Vitrikas, and Chris Harvey have researched over the last Thirty years. A valuable car that deserves a place in history.

Jeremy Savage

Hi
Did John Savage Buy the car, or is this info not public domain. I talked to Dorris over Labor Day, and she said all info was not being released. As long as you enjoy the car. If the car is going to run in the VSCCA, should talk to Jerry Greaves. If not, please disregard.

I am event Chairman at the Ocober 7 and 8 event at Lime Rock park. If the car is running you are welcome to act as a pace car in one or two races. If not, please feel free to keep it in the B paddock with the other MG's. I have a Sebring Twin Cam coming, and Bob Olthoffs Twin Cam at the track for the two days.
