MG MGA - Floor Board Fixing Nuts
Does anyone have a plan of the location of the nuts that are "welded' to the chassis and take the floorboard fixing screws? e.g. the service parts manual I have indicates that the R/H rear floorboard (the seat floorboard) is held with 12 screws. My chassis has 11 welded nuts and 4 holes which may originally have had the nuts. When I went to school 11+4=15 not 12. I realise that the L/H rear board is also fixed to the gearbox cover. Did the gear box cover also originally have the welded nuts at the fixing locations? |

Hi Rodney. I am assuming that you have replaced your floorboard supports, and do not know where the nuts are supposed to be welded? An easy way to locate the nut positions is to drop the floorboards in place, and simply drill through the center of each woooden floorboard hole. This gives the exact location for the floorboard nuts, which can then be centered over each hole, and tack welded in place. Hope this helps. Glenn |

If memory serves Clarke Spares sells a floorboard template set that shows hole location on the boards. With it you can find which holes were used and their locations. Personally I just installed the floorboards in my 58 coupe yesterday and used 12. The picture in your E-mail is from a car that didn't need any frame repair. It has 2 extra holes in the front edge that were not used. |
