MG MGA - Frozen front wheel?
I've had a 1959 MGA for 18 years tucked away in dry storage all these years. Started cleaning-up and working to get it running recently. OK my newest problem. Decided to move (roll) it forward 6 feet for work room! to my suprise IT WON'T BUDGE. checked and found the passenger side front wheel is froze and will NOT move. Any ideas as to what i can do. This was planed to be a retirement "enjoyable" project, an right out of the box i'm in over my head. Hope some of you old hands might guide me on this issue thanks garry irwin theirwins@windstream.net |

I had a roadster sit for about two years and a front wheel would not turn. After checking for any mechanical reasons I decided it was rust on the disc and towed the car until the wheel turned freely.(only about 3 meters) BJ |

good luck with your new project Gary - I am sure the "frozen" is something simple and probably the brake pads stuck on the disc ( assuming yours is the 1600 ). Remove the wheel and then the brake pads should free it - but you might find that the piston is seized in the caliper which will need renovating or replacing. cheers Cam |

As Cam said, if it is a 1600 and 18 years non operating car you should disassembly the calipers to clean it up, probably the piston is frozen, basically you have to rebuild the braking system. |

I would spray the disc with P C Blaster, if the “A” has drum brakes then try to get P C Blaster between the drum and the backing plate as well as in the adjuster hole. |
