MG MGA - Fuel Line to Jorge Fuel Tank
I finally put on my fuel tank from Jorge and the fuel line will not attach. Seems the line is a reverse compression but the street elbow going into the tank appears to be pipe thread. Anyone else have this problem? What's the best solution - can't send tank back now and we all know how helpful Jorge is! |

It's been awhile since I've disconnected the fuel line into the tank so I don't exactly remember the fitting. You may have to eliminate the MGA fitting off of the fuel line and splice in a new piece using standard fittings you could find at NAPA, with the pipe thread fitting on the other side to match the thread that is on your new tank. Alternatively, if you don't want a splice in your fuel line, you could call Scarborough Faire with the information on the tank threads, and have them make up a new solid line for you with the correct fittings at the engine compartment and the new tank fitting at the rear. Just make sure you figure out the TPI on the tank fitting. Mark |

Steve,I bought one from him with no problems other than the small dent in the bottom of it. I would go to the supply house and find a fitting that will fit on it to confirm weather it's his tank or your line. If all else fails cut your end off and go with a compression fitting. |

The original connection was a compression fitting with a 1/4 BSP thread. The elbow fitting is available from Moss Motors P/N 375-378 (pictured below). If you just need a new fitting on the end of the fuel line, it is Moss Motors number 367-415 for the nipple and 367-405 for the nut and is pictured in the next post. Cheers - Dave

Here is the picture of the fitting for the end of the fuel line.

Thanks David and others - my fuel line has the nut and nipple but the nut will not thread onto the elbow coming out of the tank far enough to hold. I finally cut off the end of the fuel line, installed a compression fitting to pipe thread and used rubber fuel hose and clamps to make the connection. No concours for me, I guess! |
