MG MGA - Head Gasket yet again
I was looking on the Moss parts page and am confused by a distiction. In the MGA section they offer a stock head gasket and no Payen gaskets. In the MGB section they offer both a stock and payen gasket. So the question is begged, why the distiction? Is the stock MGA gasket more closely sized to a 1600 cc bore than the MGB? |

T, i agree! The gaskit in the head kit is the copper type were when I pulled my engine the second time and ordered just the head gaskit and not the kit, they sent my the "Payen" one that looks completely different. |

Get the black Payen head gasket, and all your troubles go away. When in doubt, order the head gasket for 1975-1980 MGB. |

Wow that's interesting Barney. How come the 75-80 and not the 63-67? |

The late model engines (in North America market) had catalytic converters that ran very hot. Perhaps the factory deemed it prudent to use a better head gasket for these engines. |

That is great information!! Fuzz |
