MG MGA - Head porting

When you have had your head ported did they relieve the mouth of the exhaust port to the same size as the exhaust manifold? (Which btw is A LOT bigger than the exhaust port)

You can see all the correct porting measurements here:

I've ported a few heads... nasty job.

These are some of the tools you need. There seems to be some good info on this site too.

Also you can go quite a bit beyond what the factory recommended if your brave.

I've always found that if you fit extractor exhaust manifolds there never made very well and tend to shrink when manufactured, thus covering the exhaust ports a little... hence the need to match port both the inlet and exhaust manifolds.
My race head has a sleeve inserted into a step cut in both the head and Webber inlet manifold to insure a perfect fit.

From flow bench info I've been told about in the past, it's more a matter of getting the fuel mix in rather than getting the burnt gasses out.

Good luck
