MG MGA - Heat shield
I am going to make a heat shield out of 6" wide 18g steel, which will be attached to the exhaust pipe using U clamps. The clamps will pass through strips welded to the plate underneath. My question is, what should be the extent of the shield? There is a 16" stretch under the front floorboard and about 30" under the seats. |

Art. I had a roll of asbestos sheet and I used aluminum flashing to make a sandwich. I than screwed it to the floor boards with 1/4" spacers. This lowered the interior heat to acceptable levels here in Florida. |

my shield is aluminum and about 10" wide. I bolted it to the frame under the floor with spacers. I put it under the toe board area and the seat floor area, and it works great. There are pics on Barney's site of this kind of installation. JIM in NH |
