MG MGA - Heater / blanking plate screw size?
What are the correct screws to hold the heater assembly in place (in my case now, the blanking plate)? Mine is held in with socket head cap screws No. 10-32, 3/4" long. Are these the correct screws? Should they be hex. headed or slotted, black or plated? Socket head cap screws seem a bit upmarket for an MGA! From the pictures in Clausager Original MGA they appear plated but I cannot make out head type. Mike |

Thanks Mick - I knew I needed a proper parts book! Does this parts book have that details? http://www.pitstop.net.au/view/products/page/query/plu/6936/ Mike |

The Service Parts List for the MGA 1600 that that you have linked does show every part on the MGA to a Part Number. It does not give the details of the item. If it is a Standard BMC Fastener there is a free download with the information. Remember not every fastener is Standard (common to all BMC vehicles). You can also get a CD with the Parts List, Workshop Manual etc. for all MGA's (1500, 1600, 1600 MK1, Twin Cam) from the BMIHT in the UK for 17 GBP plus packing and postage. You should have Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 6.0 on your computer. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/giftshop/techpubs.html Mick |

Thanks Mick, I found the Standard BMC Fastener page http://www.atlantahealeys.org/Fasteners.pdf if anyone else hasn't seen it. The CD of the Parts Book, Workshop Manaual and Drivers Handbook at 17 GBP beats buying a paper copy the parts book alone at $A87. Mike |
