MG MGA - Heating Smiths MGA MGB

can I install a MGB heating BHH1010A with the
"Lid, heater outlet"17H2286 in a MGA, before the MGA VENT, heater outlet 7H1995 ?

They look the same in the engine bay but are different below the flat panel the heater sits into. It could perhaps work, for heating, but there would be no way to close the bottom of the heater to demist the windscreen
