MG MGA - How many?

Hi Folks. I have noticed that many people on this board seem to own more than one MGA, and sometimes they own MANY MGA's! Just out of curiosity, and for sake of conversation, how many MGA's do individual readers of this Forum own? And why do those folks own more than one? ( I would think one MGA would be headache enough for anyone. lol) I own just one single 1956 MGA 1500 roadster. Cheers! Glenn

How loose is your definition of an MGA? Maybe I have one, or maybe five. I own some pretty rough piles: http://photobucket.com/albums/v307/dandomatic2/motorwerks/?start=20

Why so many? Well, I don't drink, smoke, or dance, but I am horribly addicted to old machines.
Kemper

Here in my garage,

1964 Pull Handle MGB
1959 mga twin cam
1997 Jag XK8

Enough headaches for any one man...although from what I gather, its just a level of pain tolerance that drive others.

Okay, Here's the stable;

'55 TF-1500
'59 MGA
'65 MGB
'70 MGB
'64.5 Mustang Conv.
'98 BMW Conv.
'05 Ford F-150

The last one is the only one which is not a convertible.
All this is very definitely an illness. Thankfully, we've ran outa space.

I just enjoy restoring something from nothing and driving them is a ball! People need to see our cars. I am always getting comments about good old memories when people talk about our LBC's.

I have a 1961 MGA 1600 roadster that I purchased from a friend in 1978. Long story for those inclined to read such. Jim Townson and I were room mates in the BOQ at F.E. Warren AFB in 1973. I had previously owned a 61 Sprite Mark II and Jim had previously owned an MGB. I owned, then, a 68 Mustang and Jim a 72 Camero. I traded in my Mustang on a new 74 Mustang II. A piece of junk, but, it reminded both of us what we were missing in not owning an LBC. Jim purchased his 61 MGA 1600 from Henry Campbell, my Missile Launch Crew Commander. We had to push it several blocks to get it started in the dead of a Cheyenne, Wyoming winter. After having driven the Jim's new MGA, I found another 61 MGA a few months later. (Being sold for $500 by a fellow who wanted to purchase a motor cycle. His brother, the original owner of this MGA had been shot to death down in Denver.)

Later, when I was stationed in Germany and was coming back to the US for a three month service school, Jim got orders for England and decided to take his Corvette instead of the MGA. Since I needed transportation for several months and he needed to sell his car, we worked a deal where he drove the car from Austin,Texas, to Dallas,Texas and left it with my sister. She drove him to the airport using airport transfers tunbridge wells for his flight back to Austin, the, later that day, picked me up and drove me back to pick up my new car. The next day, I drove it back to Alabama, then, down to Florida before flying back to Germany. On my rare trips back to the US, I would drive the MGA while in country.

Currently, the MGA is "number two" in line for restoration. It will go to my younger daughter who will assist in the restoration. In my old age, MGAs are fun to drive, but my MGBs are much more practical.

My father and I've had a '58 MGA since I was a kid, I bought it from him in 1962, kept it through school, the Air Force, school, hippy days, more school, job & family and finally simi retirement. I've lived in it, it's lived in the garage with me, has it's own garage now. I've spent enough on parts over the years to buy a new car, but the old rat is irreplaceable by now!

'67 Cooper S, in various stages of restoration, lots of new parts to put on, it is addicting. It has something to do with instant gratification...
If my cooper could go to 24,000 feet (never mind 238 Kts true) it would probably have only three wheels when back on the ground too!
48 Ercoupe. TWO tails! 90 Kts @ maybe 5000, 4.5 GPh!Your tail is on backwards too...
