MG MGA - Hydraulic Leak Solved
A couple of months ago I reported on an unaccountable loss of hydraulic fluid. The level in the master cylinder was way down, yet I could find no sign of fluid loss at the brake cylinders nor the clutch slave cylinder. Last weekend I found the problem in the MC, a very slightly weeping clutch banjo union. It was very much disguised because the fluid was being soaked up by the main wiring loom cloth outer covering. In the RHD car the loom passes through the MC supporting bracket just underneath the MC. It's almost inaccessible at the back of the MC and it took some effort to track the problem down I cleaned up all the banjo mating surfaces and all seems well. Many thanks to all who offered advice in my initial hunt for the cause. Steve |

Steve, thanks for posting your solution. I can't tell you how many times I've searched the archives for a problem that matched mine only to find it and then discover that it lacked a solution. I'm sure I have been guilty of this myself several times. Kudos. |

Best sealed with either fibre or copper washers - I've found this fault on a few cars, and I always now feel for dampness here when asked to diagnose a brake problem. Even harder to get to on a B than an A.... |
