MG MGA - Ignition Coil Wires

Hi,

I have purchased a new negative ground coil for my 1600. Many years ago, with the original coil, I reversed the coil wires when I converted from positive to negative ground. My question is since I switched the wires with the original coil, do I switch them back with the new coil?

Best regards,
Michael

Michael. Negative terminal of the coil to the distributor. Input voltage wire to the positive terminal of the coil.

Michael, Les is correct. The negative terminal goes to the distributor. The positive (hot) wire connects to the + on the coil.

Michael,
The coil is not negative or positive ground - the same coil will work for either polarity. And connections are as stated above.
If you put electronic ignition in the distributor to replace the points and the condensor, then this MUST be the correct polarity. pertronix, for example sells either negative or positive ground kits.

Thank you all for you information and comments. I was thinking it should be wired as you guys have indicated, but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks again!
