MG MGA - Ignition problem - HELP!
I am a bit of a novice when it comes to cars and would be grateful for any guidance..... My Mark I starts and seems to run ok, but the ignition light remains constantly lit when running, albeit with a very very dim light. Other symptoms, when you rev the engine the ignition light gets brighter momentarily and when putting headlights on the ignition light is also brighter. Any ideas? I have a multimeter but not too sure how to use it!. Spark plugs are fairly new if that could be a possible source of the problem. Thanks in advance for any help. Rgds, Jason |

Jason, If the ignition light stays on at normal engine speeds it indicates a problem in the charging system. The article that Cliff linked is an excellent step by step procedure for diagnosing charging system problems. If you follow it you will probably find your problem. If you are unsure about any of the steps, please ask questions here. Jeff |
