MG MGA - In a Dizzy'ing situation
Good day all, Well it finally happened. The base of my DM2 that has been overtightened way too many times has finally given in. I found another dizzy, this one a 23D4 40819K w/out vac adv. I've searched the archives and viewed the link in the other dizzy thread listed a few days ago and found that it is most likely from a Mini though I could not find a specific listing for the "K". It has a 15 deg designation on the inside which was the same as my DM2. I'm ok w/out the vac adv because it is going into my racer. I went ahead and set it at 32 deg @ 3500 RPM (I don't have a variable timing gun). What are the collectives thoughts? j |

Yep, its out of a mini cooper S. See how it works. You may find that throttle response is not what it once was. If the that's the case, contact me and I'll work out a trade for a good DM2 for you! I usually have a few lying around! |

J, On page 36 of the s/t books for MGB's there is the advance curve recommended for race engines. No I've not seen this for MGA's, but it would be a good starting point. http://www.1978mgmidget.com/Special_Tuning_for_the_MGB.pdf Perhaps go for a 25D distributor though and get it remapped to above curve.... Then you can go to a dyno place and give them both distributors and see which is best. Cheers <MARK> |
