MG MGA - Inlet manifold query
I'm taking the opportunity over the winter months to refurb my carbs. On the top of the inlet manifold there is a brass threaded stud with a nut but I've no idea what it's purpose is. See attached photo. I don't see it on images of other inlet manifolds. Can anyone please shed light on what it might be for? It seems like it is probably redundant whatever it is. Thanks.

The bottom piece is probably hollow, maybe it was a vac. takeofff point for someething like a vac. gauge If you're tidying it up i'd be tempted to dispose of it willy |

I would not remove it, it is very useful to measure the vacuum and optimize the air-fuel mixture, in fact I have it in my MGA and my TD. |

I'm with Gabriel. I use the gunson vacuum gauge as part of my tuning tool suit. I don't have the vacuum offtake shown in your photo. Instead I purchased a pair of spacers with them threaded in. I simply blank them off when not in use. That said I do keep one of them linked to my vacuum gauge in the cockpit. Useful health monitor. Steve |

Thanks for the comments. That answers my query nicely thanks. I've never thought of using a vacuum gauge but I guess it could come in useful at some point. Tim |
