MG MGA - Insurance valuation
Hi all, I have just changed insurance companies, this one as asked for "An Independent Valuation of your Vehicle This should be on their headed paper, signed, dated and confirming that they have inspected the vehicle. The valuation must be undertaken by a reputable source that has not carried out any work on your vehicle. Any ideas where I should could get this from? Dave |

The MGOC list 9 or 10 recommended suppliers offering inspection services in Kent with 3 in Maidstone. From personal experience though with these sort of people I would be very careful and make sure you get a report in writing . David |

You need to go to your local MG club and ask one of their officers ( Secretary etc) if they will give you a valuation - this should be for free -as long as you pay their joining fee - or just pay their expenses. A qualified engineer will charge you quite a bit (£100+ depending on distance). I have done this for a few of our club members. Cheers Cam ( secretary West Lancs MG Owners). |

My insurance company is happy with 3 photos and my own valuation provided it's under £14,500. I get fully comprehensive, roadside recovery, European travel, unlimited mileage and the (questionable) agreed valuation for £120. Steve |

My current insurance company wants an independent valuation every 2 years if the value is over £8000. Have used P.Edney who is a reputable mg specialist. He charged me £30, and provided a written report with 4-5 photos of my car on it, taken by digital camera. |

Thanks all for the advise, this is turning into a pain in the butt, I should have kept with the original insurance company £127, new one £93 but need valuation. Dave |
