Dominic I am not in Glasgow but only 40 miles away if that makes me of any use? Paul |

It actually turns out that the guy I want to buy from is in the centre of Perth..... |

.... Australia? Pay my fare Dominic and I may just make the 3rd test! Steve |
Steve Gyles |
Sadly no Steve, but I really appreciate your willingness to go the extra mile (or thousand or three)! |

You could try contact the MGCC Caledonian centre Dominic. I met a lot of the members on the first Scottish MGA Day a couple of years ago and they were fantastic people. It depends on whether or not their website is fully operational over the winter but worth a try, Colyn |

Depends where Paul is in Fife. Perth might even be closer to him than Glasgow. I lived for five years in that neck of the woods. Nice part of the world if you dont mind the haar. Steve |

I read the post title and thought there probably is someone there ..but can you understand what they are saying? |
Neil Ferguson |
Steve, I really think that the Cricket Board should pay your fare to Perth WA, as the team you have sent out here is B..... useless! What is your batting average?...anything over 10 would be a help. |
Gary Lock |
Colyn - I am in off line communications with Dominic. I am a MGCC Caledonian Centre member and I was at that rally. I remember there was someone from South Yorks, was yours the dark blue A with Twin Cam style wheels? Steve - I guess if you experienced haar you must have been Pitreavie rather than Leuchars if it as in your RAF days? I am in North Queensferry by the 2 and a half big bridges. Paul |

Paul Two stints at Leuchars 1968 to 1971 and 1977 to 1980. I lived down at Upper Largo (just up the road from the famed Daniel Defoe who one time lived in Lower Largo. The Haar was wonderful in June/early July. I would spend the day sunbathing with the then new Mrs Gyles on the shore of the Forth. At 4pm I would drive over the Anstruther ridge to go night flying only to see the whole airfield and the St Andrews Old Course golf course taken out in a blanket of haar. Straight to the bar til about 10pm, then repeat the process next day. No alcohol breathe tests back in 1970! Steve |

Hi Paul, yes that was me and my wife in my dark blue roadster with the alloy Realm engineering wheels. We came up from Yorkshire in tandem with Stuart Mumby and we had a fantastic weekend with you all. You made us really welcome. Really enjoyed staying over at Dave and Mary Stewarts house too, but didn't enjoy being unable to keep up with him in his quick twin-cam! :-) We had a great time and also a really interesting journey back home I wrote it up as an entry for the Safety Fast MGA Memorable Journey competition that year (2011) but it was a bit tongue in cheek so it didnt win. If you email me I will send you a copy of it as soon as I can dig it out of my hard drive. I will send Dave a copy too. Hopefully it will bring back some great memories and a smile. If there is another Scottish MGA Day in 2014 we will try to come up again. Colyn |

Gary Lock, Queensland, Australia Steve, I really think that the Cricket Board should pay your fare to Perth WA, as the team you have sent out here is B..... useless! What is your batting average?...anything over 10 would be a help. Looks like that one went through to the keeper Gary? |

IBM It's a while since I did my batting. I was a left hand opening bat under training with Middlesex as an 18 year old. Then joined the RAF and sport became a past time. My batting average was better than 10 though. My innings of any memory was in 1967 at the village next to Prince William's recent base at Valley on Anglesey. Got horribly drunk at a party with a young lady whose name I never did remember but was subsequently told she was a corker. Ended up walking 18 miles back to base during the late early hours of a Sunday morning. Got back in time for breakfast then went straight out to the cricket field for an all day league match (still seeing very blurred double images). Put into bat, I opened. Broke my little finger of my top batting hand facing the first ball but stayed at the crease for 4 hours scoring 87 not out. Unfortunately the injury made me unfit for flying and I was delayed for a month on my flying course. Absolutely nothing to do with Dominic's MGA purchase in Perth, but hey ho. Brings back memories. With 87 not out with a broken finger, and "social activity" like that, I am sure that you would fit in perfectly with the touring Poms. Get here quick. They need you. May just have to brush up on your sledging skills? Seems that's a requirement these days. Sorry Dominic. Back to topic. IBM |

Hey, life's about the journey, not the destination (especially when it's about Glasgow)! And I thought it was the spectators who were supposed to be p*ssed at a cricket match, was always that way when I went to Headingley as a student! |
dominic clancy |
Dominic, That tradition still exists. This is the leader of the England Support Crew, The Barmy Army, suitably p*ssed and decorated!! Hasn't done them much good though. Australia leads the Series 2 - Nil. IBM |
