MG MGA - is dist. for 1500 same specs as 1600

can anyone tell me if the specs for a distributor from a 1500 has the same specs as one for a 1600?
dist. #s are 40510A 1156 BN238. I'm assuming that since it's manufacter date is 11/56 it's from a 1500.
it has 12 degrees of mech. adv. as tested with a snap-on dist. tester. and has
vac advance #s of 7-14-10 423438 , "I don't know what these #s represent" , any help with this is greatly apprieciated!
thanks joe

Joe, I believe the specs are the same since they both call for the Lucas DM2 dist.. I have a 58 mga and use a 40510D..not sure of what the A or D signify?
the 7-14 are vacuum#..7 indicates the start of vacuum advance. 14 is max. vacuum advance. 10 is degree max. @ 20 degrees on the crank... the trailing #s I have no idea again... Maybe a few of the GURUS can jump in here confirm and give a better explaination than I. I'm trying to remember from 3 yrs ago what was told to me at a seminar give by a person at a British car event near Chicago.. Mike

Joe is correct,

The Lucas Distributor database only shows 40510D for both 1500 & 1600 MGA's

Check for yourself here.

As a side note I've been trying for ages to get a new source of the correct springs for this and the twin cam distributor for ages, to bring them back closer to the original spec again, as after 50 years the springs will have lost allot of their tension.

thanks guys, I went ahead and purchased it (e-bay) so I'll have to see if in fact it is marked 40510 A , thought it was worth the chance of being the correct distributor for my 1600 , will re-post if it's stamped as 40510 A and see if anyone can identify what it means.
cheers,

Joe,

The link under my earlier post includes pictures of "early" DM2 and "late" DM2P4 MGA distributor guts. Both are 12 degrees max advance (double for crank advance) and can use the same vacuum pot/ breaker plate/etc. The shaft/advance/cam assemblies can be swapped as a unit.

The new guts were adapted sometime during the 1600 run.

Hope this helps,
Bill
