MG MGA - Is this right

I have a 1600 Mark 1, 1960 roadster. However, the dash is vynil covered, and I don't think this is original. Also, the indicator light is between the speedo and the rev counter below the panel light switch. It is not on the extreme right, where there is just a grommet.
If you say'refer to Clauseger' Hopefully its coming tonight!
Any other comments,please?

Hi Nigel

Your dash should painted body colour, your indicator tell-tale light should be where the grommet is, the correct type are available from Moss ( the lens is a lighter shade of green but looks OK )

Thanks Terry, but why is it like it is?

Sounds like you have a MKII dash. The main clue to that is the indicator light. You will see that in you book when you get it.
JEFF BECKER

Jeff is right. The moved turn signal indicator and vinyl cover are stock on a MK11.

Hi Nigel, I too have a black 1960 Mk1 roadster with a black vinyl dash cover which I believe is original. The dash should be painted body colour as mentioned earlier but mine is a European export model and I believe the buyer could specify non standard extras like the dash covering. The twin cam, de luxe and Mk11 had vinyl as standard but also had chrome surrounding the speaker mesh and chrome trim around the edge of the dash. Cheers Cam

Hi Nigel, sorry about the delay in replying - my computer had a bug and went off line over the New Year holiday. The indicator light on my car is in its original place next to the indicator switch. This is not a very good place for it as it is concealed by my right hand on the steering wheel - and the clicking sound is not very audible with top down (which is always). I have considered swapping its position with the dash light rhoestat which is central between the speedo and tacho - which is a much more visible position - obviously what some previous owner has done to yours. Cheers Cam
