MG MGA - Isle of Man

Maybe this is not the best place to start this thread, but here goes anyway.
Having exhausted the 'interesting' bits of England and Wales, a bunch of us hardy souls and MGA owners are planning our annual weekend away in the Isle of Man. To spice up the experience, we try to incorporate a good 4 star watersplash and some 'White' roads (sometimes referred to as 'BOATS' or 'RUPPS'), usually trying them first. As a recce to the Island is not going to be easy, I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for roads which might (just) be passable with an MGA? Some of the Green roads around Kirk Michael and the Greenway between Slieau Curn and Slieau Dhoo, seem to be passable. Any advice would be appreciated. If you want to look at some wet MGA's try this link.

Sorry,
The whole link didn't underline, but if you copy it and paste it into your browser it should work. I'll try to paste it to the thread again

Are snorkels optional?

Geoff,

Did you have to remove the fan belt to make the crossing?

Even though this was quite a deep ford, filling the footwells on two of the 5 cars, no-one suffered ignition problems. The fan is relatively high on an MGA and there must be something odd about the way the water flows under the car.
Fords were a lot more common when these cars were designed, perhaps 'Fordability' was part of the design consideration - or was it just good fortune?
For those with submariner tendencies, can I commend the 'wetroads' website and its 'use 'em or lose 'em' ethos. You night also like to take a look at MGA's getting wet at Caysham Mill in N Yorks. (If it has uploaded!)
