MG MGA - It's Alive!

For the first time in over 36 years it moves under it's own power! The PO dissasembled it in 1971-72. Once apart it sat for 20+ years in a dome in his backyard. When his wife was finally sick of looking at the dome rust around it she forced the sale. The 1962 MK11 then sat in my warehouse patiently waiting it's turn. This morning I sat trying to install the right door panel. The morning sun streaming in the windows made it impossible to see my work. The car needed turned around. Instead of pushing it around I fired up and drove around the building to where the car wash sits. The dust was removed the pictures taken and the it pulled it's self back inside. So with the work back lit I can now finish installing the door panels.

Excellent.I really like the stance your car has. It looks to sit a little higher than mine. What size of tires are you using?

Mine is also a '62 Mk 11 that is black with a tan interior. Enjoy the summer...

The tires are Kumho 165 /80R15 powerstar 758 on Dayton 15x4.5 60 spoke wheels. Springs are original.
Here is the interior, Finished today. Now to fit the top and tonneau.

I could not get it to upload the picture. So I turned it all off and tried again. Seems to be working now.

The PO chose the carpet color (an Amco set from the 70s) and did up a set of door panels in red. I believe he planned on a white car. I liked the idea of red but he used material that was too red. (see picture) I really like the ox blood red of this set from Moss. I also have the White top he chose. I think I will use it and save the black top for my next project. A 1960 1600 that I will pait to it's original Iris blue. I alredy have a black with blue welting seat and panel set and black carpet for it.

Saturday my lovely wife Laurie drove her new car for the first time. The car has a few items to finish but it is drivable. We just got back from our first Sunday drive! She has that MG grin!! My car is the red reflection.
I wanted it to be a surprise but the insurance company E-mailed her the proof of insurance card between the time I started insurance at 3pm friday and when I called her on the way home at 5:30.
It has taken so long she thought this project would never drive.
See the picture Laurie in her car in the garage at home.
