MG MGA - Key Blank on e-bay
Has anyone seen the MGA key blank on e-bay for $300.00? How rare is this item? Moss sells blank that looks about the same (less the red paint). |

I think this key fits that $114,000 MGA that was on ebay a few weeks ago. The seller does describe it as "gold". If it really is a gold promotional item it might be worth $300 to a collector, otherwise IMHO its not worth much more than the piece that Moss sells. Bill |

I just heard back from him, he is "not sure" it its real gold. But maybe it's the same guy who was selling the $114,000.00 MGA. |

Give us a link for a larf.... |

Must be the same guy that tried to sell the $114,000.00 MGA last year on Ebay. Didn't sell it but I guess he forgot to mention that it came with these special keys. LOL |

The seller's location is different, but the level of delusion is the same as the $114,00 guy. If by "gold" he means brass, then I don't see anything special about it and I'd expect a false advertising claim, if I were him. If he means actual gold, as in the soft metal that could twist off in the ignition switch, then the metal value is worth $300. If anyone is looking for the blank key WITH the red, I got mine from Scarborough Faire. It was part number SS54KP/RD. FWIW. Joe |

If anyone wants real original key's I had excellent results with britishcarkeys.com He even sent them to me to try and accepted payment after I was sure they worked, how often does that happen today? Gary |

Just had a look at the site - yep, that's what SF is offering (albeit not NOS). Paid $5 six years ago. Now let's see, six years of compounded inflation times five bucks is about ...$300! wow, it is a fair price - in Argentina! |

Should we all bid in 0-01 increments just to make the point? |

And remember NO pay pal MUST be a SCAM. |

I wrote him and offered to sell him more keys at $75 each which would give him a profit of $225 and me a profit of $70. He wrote back and I quote "You can kiss my ass". Damm, I thought I found my pot of Gold. |

I AM IN THE MONEY - I HAVE ONE OF THOSE!!! I won it in a quiz at a pub in 1981. The quiz was at the meeting of the MG Owners Club that Roche Bentley used to attend in Boxworth just down the road from their HQ in Swavesey. HEY, THAT GIVES IT A HISTORY!!! ANYBODY GIVE ME 400 FOR MINE? Seriously, it's worth less than a buck, it doesn't even fit any MG lock that I am aware of (MGA, MGB, midget, etc.). John |

This Gentleman and I am using that loosly sent the following e-mail after I offered to sell him all the keys he wanted for only $75 WHY DON'T YOU BUY THEM ALL AND STICK THEM UP YOUR ASS. YOU SEEM SMART ENOUGHT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THAT. MY REPLY THESE KEYS WON'T FIT MY ASS. MY ASS IS FS NOT A FP. ON THE OTHERHAND YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY A $300 ON YOUR ASS TO LET ALL THE BS OUT TO CLEAR UP YOUR BRAIN AS TO WHAT SANE PERSON WOULD THINK A CAR KEY IS WORTH $300 TAKE A LOOK ON THE MG BBS BOARD TO SEE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE PERSON WHO WANTS $300 FOR A KEY!!!!!!!!!! IF ONE PERSON SAYS SOMEONE IS A IDOIT THAT IS ONE THING, BUT WHEN A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE SAY THAT PERSON IS AN IDOIT , THAT IS SOMETHING ELSE.!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T HELP MYSELF BUT TO LMAO WILL THERE BE A SUCKER OPPS I MEAN BUYER FOR THAT KEY |

If you could be sure the reserve really WAS $300, it might be fun to bid $299.50, just to block anyone else from making a bad mistake. After all, when the reserve isn't met, you don't owe the man a thing. And, calling a rhinestone a diamond still doesn't make it any more valuable that it already was. But, if you put it where the seller suggested, and squeezed down REALLY hard, who knows what it might turn into <grin>? Cheers, y'all - - Alec . |
Alec Darnall |
Thge seller would probably lower the reserve so that you would get stuck buying the poor thing. |

The listing now reads: "The seller ended this listing early because the item was lost or broken." I guess eBay doesn't have a check box for "The seller ended this listing early because he's a moron." |
Mark |
"The seller ended this listing early to avoid paying eBay the listing fees" |
