MG MGA - Lace for leather wheel cover?

Gentlemen,
Reading the thread about the leather wheel cover reminded me that I need a replacement lace for my wheel cover. I put a new cover on last year but had to remove it during the winter repair the wheel. The old lace appears to be a waxed black nylon cord. Any ideas where I could get a new one? The cover came from Moss but they don't appear to offer just the lace.
Thanks,

What came with my cover was a black sort of flat plastic cord. It's what mt kid calls gimp which is available at any craft store in different colors.

Or buy one of those nasty vinyl wheel covers at Big Lots or other discount store and use the lacing supplied.

If you have a local leather craft store, or maybe even just a general crafts store you might be able to find it locally.

Hi GT. Just find a small chunk of leather that matches the colour of the steering wheel cover. Take scissors, and simply make a continuous cut around the outside perimiter of the leather piece. Keep cutting around and around, until you have a thin ribbon of leather that is long enough to lace onto the steering wheel cover. size the thickness of the ribbon so that it just fits through the lacing holes. Don't know if any of you have ever installed the Moss leather cover, but to install it properly, you really need the waxed nylon cord. The cover fits extremely tight and when installed properly looks like it was sewn on. The lacing is barely visible. Leather or plastic thongs would be too thick.

I have a very large amount of nylon flat braided cord. Mil spec xxxxxx something. I do not know if this would work, but if someone want to try i would be willing to send them a few yards for experimentation purposes.

Just met me know.

Guys,
Thanks for the ideas. I've been out of town for a few days so I'm just getting around to checking this out. I'll check the local shoe/leather repair shop and see what they may have.

Black nylon lacing cord from an aviation supply house. It is waxed. I used it for lacing electrical cable runs. A little bit pricey but can be used everywhere. I've had a spool around the house for about 150 years and only used about half of it. Think you can also get it in natural (tan).
