MG MGA - Leaf springs - which way?

Well, parts are back from the powder coater and, yes, I didnt take enough pictures. Just a couple of re-assembly questions (to start).

Reassembling the rear springs, I discovered that the center bolt hole is not in the center. Looking at my pictures, the workshop manual and drawings on Barneys site, it appears that the silentbloc bushing goes on the short end, but I cant find a definitive answer. Is this correct? The frame is not back yet, so no clues there.

Next the steering rack. The large pinion thrust washer (comes out after the rack) came out before I discovered that it has two grooves in one face. Which way do they face? Toward the steering wheel or toward the front of the car?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

The springs are as you describe with the silentblock on the short end.

Thanks for your response, Neil. I am ready to press the bushes in and that's not an area I want to have a "do over".
