MG MGA - Leaking heater valve again
The heater valve on my '58 MGA (with 3 brg B engine) was replaced in Nov 09 and has today failed again - water pouring from the innards! Is there a good reproduction valve available? How can you tell good from bad before you part with your hard earned? I have had a look on Muenchausen's Garage site (from the link on MGAguru)for inspiration. http://www.britishcarforum.com/bobmuenchausen/4436.html Regards Mike |

Hi Mike, I recently fabricated and installed a home made heater valve as described on Muenchausen's Garage site. It works great, is vastly superior to the mickey mouse original heater valves, and while not stock, blends in quite nicely with the other brass bits on the engine. I dont know if there is a way to tell high quality shut off valves from crappy ones, but I had several leaky valves, and decided that the home made option was better. Cheers, Glenn |
