MG MGA - Leather Seat Covers

Any thoughts as to who has the best quality leather seat covers & carpet, SF, Moss, anyone else?
Dan Clark

I bought Moss leather seat covers in 1986. Very nice, held up well for 19 years and 190,000 miles and could have gone longer.

I bought another set of Moss leather seat covers in 2005. A little nicer I think. With time and experience they may be fine tuning some small details for better fit and easier installation.

I have no experience with other sources.

I had a full interior set made up in a custom color (apple green) by Brown & Gammons about 5 years ago. Delighted with quality and fit of seat covers and all other components. B&G very easy to deal with, as well.

I bought a whole leather hide on Ebay for $135.00 US. Excellent quality and verified by a leather manufacture company owner as a fantastic purchase. A local auto upholstery shop did the seats and the door panels for $350.00 Canadian. Now I have a complete leather interior for under $550.00 Canadian. Excellent workmanship and quality. I think I recall my calaculating a Moss kit would have come to something in the neighbour hood of $1500.00 USA (at that time about $1900.00 Can) not installed.
I would advise checking out the local shops and see what you can work out. You may be surprised what amount of money you can save. If you wish to have the name of the company where I got my leather hide, just let me know. Thanks gord

I purchased the SF covers. Seem to be holding up just fine. We tried to match the piping to the ash green color but couldn't so I went with all black.

I was inspecting my friends' 1600 seats (original to the car) and the grain is deep & rich and the leather seems a bit heavier, like it wasn't stretched too much during the tanning process. Great patina, too. I hope mine wear that nice.

I bought VB seats and interior....completely satisfied. Sounds like no matter who you buy from--the product's sound.

All leather is not the same! Moss seat kits SMELL the best. SF have no fragrance at all. But Moss smell like rich expensive leather, even 15 years later in my old MGB.

IMO one of the best features of a vintage British car: the smell! Combination of leather, gasoline, motor oil, and musty carpets. :)
