MG MGA - Light switch
Hi all, Having trouble with my light switch. Lights were not working and I traced it to the switch. Removed it and cleaned with electrical contact cleaner. Put it back and seemed OK for a while then started playing up again so looks like a new one is required. I've read that the replacements from Moss are not that good. Anyone else had this trouble and found a solution? Can the switch be taken apart? Phil |

Hi Phil On the body of the switch is a screw ( not a terminal). Lightly tightening this removes slop in the switch and improves its reliability |

Thanks Dominic, I was thinking (!) What about changing the light switch for a single on/off type of switch like the one for the fog light. This would be much more reliable. The only downside as far as I can see would be the inability to have the front side lights on without the headlights but is this really a problem? I don't think that I ever have just the side lights on anyway. Would there be an MOT problem with that? Any thoughts appreciated. Phil |

It would not pass the MOT Phil, assuming it still needs an MOT? I have a few original used switches that tend to last pretty well, if you need one. |

Hi Neil, It doesn't actually need an MOT but I like to get one done anyway. If you have a switch that you can spare that would be great. Would you contact me via email for address details? Many thanks, Phil |
