MG MGA - Low pressure area engine bay venting

Whilst I'm restoring my A's bodyshell I'm considering venting the engine bay through the closing panel and into the inner wing (fender) area behind the rear splash panel. My thinking is that this should be a low pressure are, as per the wheelwell, and the heat from the high pressure engine bay will vent into this area. Has anybody tried this or have any views on its likely success?

Once you get the air in there, where will it exit? The area behind the splash panel is a relatively closed area.

Why not just use the louvres in the inner wheel arch panel, as the MG factory did with the Twin Cam?
For even more air the removeable panels could be left off, but this would allow the wheel to throw mud and road debris onto the engine.

Yes I forgot about that - a touch of brain-fade I'm afraid. I could louvre the splash panel upwards which would vent the heat but not allow road debris in. But I suppose the twin cam vents would be just as effective.
