MG MGA - Mallory Dist.

I have an older Mallory dual point distributor that came in the bin of parts when I bought the 1500. Is it worthwhile to clean this up, set it up with new points cap and rotor to keep as a spare dizzy or would it not be worth the hassle? Are they persnickety and difficult? Just looking for some more "free" advice. What do you all think?

I'm a little biased. I have 210,000 miles on a Mallory Dual Points distributor (non-vacuum model). Must be the most robust distributor I have ever know, as it is still solid and looks like good for another 200,000 miles. The service parts are quality goods with brass posts in the cap for instance. Service parts seem expensive, but they seldom need replacement. If I had it all to do over again I think I'd like a vacuum advance unit for a bit better fuel economy, but 28 mpg isn't bad as is. Love those points. Not keen on electronic tricks.
