MG MGA - MGA back home

Some of you may remember that my son and I fixed up a 58 A and I then drove it from Boston to Ohio where he was in college. On Monday he graduated from The College of Wooster so yesterday (Tuesday) we drove it back to Boston. It was great to share the driving with my son, and have my wife son and duaghter following us in a Yukon just in case. The A had a flawlless trip home, even took the Delaware Water Gap Natinal Park road to add some fun driving to the trip.

Ok she needs some work now that she is home. Value seals, chrome polish, alternator belt is loose, and maybe a starter rebuild.

Anyway my son will never forget driving around campus in a 59 year old MGA for the last almost 2 years.

I know he has some great memories driving the MGA while at college. I know thats what I had back in 61 with my MGA and my memories will never fade from those times.

Russel,
Fun stuff, that.
I too had an MGA during college and many, many fun memories associated with it.
Hope your son is appropriately grateful.

Cheers,
Gerry

my college MGA was a coupe. Double dates were Interesting.

I drove my mgb roadster in college and then my MGA Coupe. I remember rebuilding the fuel pump in the parking lot of my apartment complex. Once when I was working at a video store we were hit with tornado-force winds and large hail in Indianapolis. I drove the coupe up onto the sidewalk in front of the store to use the awning as a carport! Ah, college...

I managed to get four people in my MGA roadster when I was in college. Double dates? No problem!

How well I remember my college days and when I bought my first car--a 1956 MGA 1500, Black with red interior.

My standard approach line was "Hello beautiful! Want to go for a ride in a sports car?" Believe it or not, it worked quite well!

Then came life--marriage (to my first wife, who went for the above line), babies, war, work, houses, divource, child support, poverty, dating, rebirth, better jobs, remarriage (to a great woman, who likes to ride in sports cars, but I didn't use the line on her), and finally, with only one more year left to complete the restoration, (DRUM ROLL) TA DA!!!--a 1956 MGA 1500.
Life really is quite good!
