MG MGA - MGA 'barn find' - must read


MGA group- Before I tell you about the 'barn find' I would like to invite everyone to the Pittsburgh Vintage Gran Prix next weekend July 15-16, it supports several worthy causes including Childrens Hospital and it is a FREE event. Please contact me direct if you would like info.

As most of you who know me, know that I normally hang out in the T-series & pre-war groups. About 10-12 years ago I met a fellow that in the 60's & 70's worked in or was partners in a salvage yard. He started collecting misc sheet metal/front & rear suspension parts for MGT's & A's (yes I bought all his T stuff years ago). He told me this week that he is planning on having an auction next year to sell off all he has and 'clean out' the barn so he can sell the farm and retire. If there is something you are looking for, I think I can get it before that happens. He know what the valve of things are today so he isn't going to be low balled. Here is a short list of things he still has left, most are in original paint and near perfect condition (minor rust if any)

wire wheels 60 & 72 spoke & disc
front spindles/king pins/hubs wire & disc
top frames & irons
front fenders w/lights & markers
rear "
doors
bonnets
deck lids
some gages
steering wheels
NO motors or gear boxes
some rear ends (2) 11/43's 3.9/1 gears (rare)
some wind screens but most need glass
some grills
no chrome
a few bumpers
and a little bit of this and that.

I am also going to sell a 1957 1500 project car that I took in on a trade for a TF. If anyone is interested I can send you more details and a write up before I start to advertise it. It is a project car w/disc wheels/rebuilt motor & gearbox & new MG red paint. Thats it for now. mick

Mick, thanks for sharing the information and offering your help. You are one of the reasons this BBS is so valuable. You also show the spirit that I've found in most MG enthusiasts which are always willing to help their fellows. I'll have to take a good long look at the bonnet I have. Has some holes some DPO drilled for a hood ornament and some damage around one hinge, might just be in the market for a 'new' one.

Group - OK, this is you last chande for 3 weeks. After 239 email requests for parts, I am going back to visit my friend and take a better inventory. It may take me a week to get back to everyone so please be patient. I will leave at 8;30 AM and will check this site once more before I leave. mick

Gary L. I have several heater motors. I am rebuilding a couple to mint condition. email me and I can send you some photos. I also have some that are as they are pulled from car. I also have complete heater units in all conditions from as pulled from car and totally restored.
