MG MGA - MGA Differential Problem
I am new to the forum. I own a 1962 MGA and I wonder if anyone can tell me what my problem is likely to be. When my car has its rear wheels are jacked off the ground, engine started and put in gear only one wheel turns. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thanks |

Differential is fine, but one brake is dragging. |

I agree with Barney, that is what a diff does, it allows one wheel to turn while the other is staionary otherwise you would struggle to get round a corner. If both wheels turned it would be a limited slip diif which are only usually found on competion cars. |

Thanks guys, this is helpful, I will check it out. |

If I remember correctly the right rear wheel will be the one that turns if all else is equal. Such as equal brake shoe adjustment on both rear wheels. If you hold the right rear wheel still, the left rear wheel will turn. |
