MG MGA - Mga Disc Brake caliper cleaning
I have removed the pistons, from a pair of 1600 disc brake calipers and now need some advise on how to clean them. Both calipers have been seperated. I used my grease gun to force out the pistons, and now I have to remove the grease from the inner channels of the caliper. I have thought of using, gasoline, kerosene, brake drum cleaner, soft narrow brushes, degreasing cleaners, but I am not sure which will do the best job. Could someone please advise me of the best method,to handle this task. Thank you. |

They are cast iron, so use any solvent you like. I suggest final rinse with Lacquer thinner, followed by blow dry and paint immediately (if you like) before they go rusty. |

I blew them out with my compressor then liberally washed the channels with GUNK engine cleaner. Worked great. |
