hi steve, the blue coupe would suit you gordon |

Gordon, looking closely at the photographs I think the price of almost £9000 is if anything slightly high. There's an awful lot of work to be done in the engine bay and what does a good respray cost these days? If a classic car dealer is asking £9000 then I suggest that its real market value is a touch lower. |

Hi JH , it looks quite a nice, solid car though Gordon |

A friend in our club paid £13,500 for his MkII last summer - it had been restored in 1997 but hardly used since( the dealer was asking £16k but he knocked him down on my advice - I had suggested he only offer him £11,500!). So £9k for one that needs tidying is about right - providing no major chassis/bodywork is needed. |

Cam, does 'need tidying' include a respray? I think this is the difference between 1/2 empty and 1/2 full. Guess I must be a 1/2 empty person! |

about 3 or 4 K for a good respray gordon |

Hi JH, I had the wings and doors stripped and repainted on mine 4 years ago - cost £1000 for a pretty good job - this was on top of the £9k I paid for the car. Depends on what the bonnet and front surround are like. A full repspray, as Gordon says, is going to be at least £3k. This would make it about right if we put the value of the completed car at £13.5k depending on what the underneath of it is like and what needs doing mechanically. If it were me I would try to get it down to below £8k. cheers Cam |
