MG MGA - MGA girl photo origin?

Does anyone know the origin of this photo? It was in the Central Virginia British Car Club Official Club Newsletter, January 2010 that a friend sent to me.
Thanks,

I don’t know where that one came from but this one was in the January "Enjoying MG" the news letter of the MG Owners Club, UK

Miss MG of North America?
What years?
R Garcia

Don’t know, but the MGA is a MKII and they went into production in March, 1961; so most likely late spring or summer, ‘61.

They're dressed similarly to the RCMP so I'm thinking this was a Canadian distributors promotion. I doubt if either of them or the cars still look as good. ;-)
Bill Young

I'm pretty sure that's a Canadian plate on the car. That would be consistant with RCMP dress. Can any of you Canadian folks shed any light on this?

I found this on the internet, listed as Ontario 55-61 plates.

I'm not sure if Gerry's question was specific to the photo he posted. Perhaps the two photos of Miss MG of North America were a response to the M.G. Girl picture that Gordon Crosby did first for The Autocar in 1934. There's a reproduction of what I think is that first M.G. Girl photograph on the cover of MG Magazine No. 32 1989. That issue also solicits entries for the "second annual M.G. Girl contest" sponsored by the magazine. I don't know how long The Autocar published M.G. Girl photos, but I believe it was long standing tradition in the UK.

There is another photo from the same photo session in John Price Williams book "The MGA, First of a new line". On page 70. He says that "Miss MG North America was voted in each year by Morris dealers and was, in 1961, Canadian beauty red haired Inge Britt. Her car not only had a make-up kit but also a tasteful lace doily around the number plate."

Yes the plate in question is an Ontario 1961 6 number plate. There was also a 5 number plate which I have registered to my car.
