MG MGA - MGA LCB exhaust system

Hi all - need a new exhaust system for the A - my local exhaust centre don't do welding (!) and I need a 'custom' set up to match the LCB manifold (I've had the manifold on the car for some 35 years and have no idea of the make). The diameter at the end of the manifold is 1 and 7/8 inches. None of the online suppliers list pipe diameter - any ideas?
Thanks to one and all

My son makes bespoke exhaust systems as I am sure many others do also. I fear his services are too far from you to make it viable but there are a number of businesses doing the same thing. Must be some in Surrey I would imagine.

If all else fails and you fancy a run upto Lincs then give me a shout. he would make you exactly what you want in SS
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

Thanks Bob - I had hoped to simply run the car up to the exhaust centre and get them to 'sort it' (not that I'm lazy but changing an exhaust lying on a concrete floor isn't my idea of fun these days). It was a sod to remove, had to take the carbs and manifold off, having just got it running nicely! Short of borrowing a trailer and lugging it somewhere, I'll have to fix it.

Andy,

1 7/8 is pretty big! What size engine / tweaks have you got? I'm running a Maniflow 1 7/8 Stage 2 system and manifold on mine, but it has a 2.1 litre conversion.

I'd recommend Maniflow (based in Salisbury), as the guy there taught Jan from Janspeed everything and he's pretty reasonably priced and knowledgable and makes specials for numerous cars.

He refused to sell me a LCB as he felt that their Stage 2 manifold would better suit my needs of lots of low-midrange power and torque (and the LCB was more expensive!).

good luck,

Thanks for that Grant, I'll give them a call - it's a 3 bearing 1800 B engine, overbored, big carbs, Derrington big valve head, 88G229 cam (equivalent - that's a 997 Cooper spec)etc etc. Built it in the early seventies using the Special Tuning Guide (technically a stage 7 but no-one recognises that these days). Also, it was built to run on 5 star (ho hum). 3.9 diff and really shifts once she's rolling. Trying to sort her out again after the usual unholy trinity of marriage, kids and mortgage!
Cheers
