MG MGA - MGA/MGB early 1800 cams
Does anyone know if the MGA and the early MGB 1800 3 main engine cams are the same? Thanks and have a good day! John |

Although the factory Service Parts Lists are a bit confusing they seem to show that camshaft part number 1H1435 was used in the MGA 1500, 1600 and MGB 1800. Mick |

Guys, I am interested as I'm planning to build an early 1800 for my car to drive to Reno in 2011. I have a Crane "Performance" camshaft purchased for my MGA a few years back from MOSS (222-270) Crane PN 342-0010. Don't ask why it's still in the box. In the box there is a paper that says 1957-1980 MGA-MGB 4 CYL 1598-1799 C.C which leads me to believe it will work. (How many people have a camshaft on their desk?) GTF PS: John, I WILL be sending you the tranny cover..Honest! |

I have one of those in my MGA, and have installed several more. The work fine in any MGA or MGB 4-cylinder. Be aware of the requirement for cam timing adjustment. Also consider a little increase of valve lift. If the head has ever been shaved you need to add eyebrows to the block. Ditto for use of the "L" series head. |
