MG MGA - MGA MGB Interchange

I have MGBs, midgets and a Bugeye, But never an "A".
I am considering restoring my first MGA with MGB running gear that I have.

I have read several threads about the interchanges of rear-ends and front knuckles, kingpins and spindles, etc.

Are the bolt patterns on steel wheels the same size?
Are the hubs for wire wheels the same size?

Thanks,

Todd

You can use the 1500 or 1600 steel wheels since the MGB had 14" wheels there are no clearance issues. Also the bolt pattern is the same but you need MGB lugnuts.

Remember the B rear end is about 2" wider than the A. It will fit, but your rear track will be different from the front.

Are you sure you are not comparing a steel wheel axle with a wire wheel axle. From the specifications on this web site the A has a rear track of 4' 0.75" and the B has 4' 1.25" inch track. Total of 1/2 inch difference.

Not positive about it, just going off memory. I wonder if the A and B wheels have different offset? I'll have to measure axles when I get home.
