MG MGA - MGA Radios
I am just curious about mga radios, what alternatives do you know to replace a damaged radio, besides to repair it, since the polarity is been an issue and the modern radios does not work with the positive grounded, as far as I know. |

Try <vintageradiorepair.com > . They are located in Hueytown Alabama. I had recently used them to repair a late '60's Lucas 8-track tape player for my +ground MG; knowledgeable & good people to work with.//nk |

MGA radio was a dealer installed option, often local sourced, so any period radio is correct for originality (as long as it doesn't have a different car manufacturer's name on it). Most radios of the 50's and early 60's were positive earth design, a few were dual polarity with a switch or jumper plug. If you want to use a modern electronic radio, it is easy to switch the car from positive earth to negative earth. The only good reason not to do that would be for concours show (in which case you wouldn't be using a negative earth radio anyway). |
