MG MGA - MGA trany gear swap with MGB ?

Has anyone out there replaced the inner workings of a
1500 MGA transmission 4 speed 3 sincro with a MGB 4 speed 4 sincro total swap out? Can it be done or am I nuts? Well maybe not nuts but uninformed!!!

It can't be done. Everything in the late model gearbox (including the outer case) is larger and heavier, and the parts are not interchangeable.

The pre-1968 MGB 3-syncro box is virtually identical inside to the MGA units, and those parts are interchangeable.
