MG MGA - MGA with wind up windows
Hi, I know that such cars exist but does anyone know if the factory produced any cars with coupe doors / wind up windows ? Phil Parmenter |

Hi Phil, I am sure that the factory never produced a roadster with wind up windows - for sale at least. |

Hi Phil, how are you is this what made you ask http://www.sussexsportscars.co.uk/classic_car/873/1962_mga_mkii_1600_roadster/ Gordon ps SFO is alive and well |

Hi Gordon, Yes I saw this one. Do you think the modification makes it worth more or less? Does make you wonder why the factory never did it. Phil |

Phil, the factory did do it later that year and increased engine size to 1800 with optional overdrive! |

Boy that looks great, but how is one "supposed" to get wet when it rains?? I hope it still leaks somewhere at least :-) I really could have used those on the cross country trip I took several years back... Christine |

Hi Phil, I guess it would have to make it worth a bit less but then it might have a rarity value I suppose, I have seen a similar photo of one in the states where someone did the same thing also a coupe that they cut the top off but left the coupe screen and doors that looked quite odd, by the way have you heard from Steve recently gordon |

Gday Christine, I"d say it's a mg it has got to be leaking somewhere Bob |

If you go into the Sussex Sports Cars web site as Gordon's entry you can see the red MGA with wind up windows. Apart from thinking there's something not quite right about its lines has anyone a suggestion on the purpose of the pipe from the inlet manifold in pictures 20,24 & 25 that then splits into two pipes that go off in opposite direction? There are a few other interesting features such as a pad on the door for the drivers leg, omitted arm rest and different fitting of the rear registration plate and light. |

The pipe on the inlet is an aftermarket vacuum line. It travels to the side wall where it T's fore and aft. The forward path goes to either a brake servo or cruise control servo mounted to the RH side of the radiator. You can see it in photo#22. I don't know where the rearward vacuum line goes to. Perhaps to a vacuum canister? Chuck |

Hi guys, in 1979 an MGA with wind up windows existed in Brisbane. I know because one of my best friends owned it! Similar to the pictures in this topic. What happened to it? who knows, Jeff sold it to buy a Porsche when he became a Lawyer...more in keeping with the image..On a dufferent tack, my racer had electric windows (flat glass)at one point in the mid 1980s. Biggest issue was the making, fitment and sealing of perspex quarter windows regards Mark |
