MG MGA - MGB headers w engine in MGA

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out with my dilemna. I'm in the process of installing a 1900cc 5 main engine in my MGA and would like to use some headers. Does anyone know is there is bolt on kit for such an application (That will clear the frame rail and steering rack). A friend of mine has a peco exhaust, but the centre exhaust downtube hits the steering rack. I've noticed that MOSS has a few different ones including some short ones but wanted to hear what some of the members from the board thought. Cheers, John

I used the Peco headers for MGA and they fit fine on my later MGB 1800 engine. The headers came from Moss back in about 2001. Any questions let me know via email

Maniflow in the UK makes 2 sizes of tubular headers for the MGA, and they are available in the states through APT.

You might be able to have a machine shop skim the mounting flanges of the Peco at an angle, causing the headers to miss the steering rack. I know this trick will work if you're trying to fit the stock MGB manifold to the MGA, so it might hold true for the Peco as well.

The MGA steering column is closer to the engine than in the MGB. MGB exhaust headers and exhaust manifold will not fit on the left hand drive MGA, not even with a machined angle on the gasket face. They would fit on a right hand drive MGA. For LHD MGA you need either the original MGA iron manifold or special MGA tubular headers.
