MG MGA - Monza Gas Cap?

I saw a Monza Gas cap on an MGA at the Twist summer picnic last year. The fellow who owned the car said he got it from Moss but I do not see a listing for one for the MGA. Any ideas?

Paul there are several types of 'Monza' caps available. The one Moss carries is designed to clamp on to the existing fuel pipe and cover the original cap. Not for A's as they use a flip up cap. Mostly used on B's, midget's, and Mini's. Actual Monza or Aston style caps are available from BAT Mocal here in NA http://64.202.180.37/files/cap2.pdf and Think Auto in GB http://www.thinkauto.com/
They're not cheap, but very well made.
A lot of both types show up on E-bay in GB, but not very many here in NA.

Moss lists them as Aston Martin Gas Caps in the "accessories" section of the catalogs.
The TR3 gas cap could be a contemporary period substitute. It is a lot less than the Monza style.

Aston caps and Monza caps are available from Burton Power UK. I have their Aston cap on my MGA. It's a beauty, original chrome on brass English made. Also available in aluminum. I've never figured out why our USA MGA parts suppliers don't carry these items for the MGA. I wish I had a commission for every customer I forwarded to Burton Power.

The threaded caps can either be soldered/welded to an extra cost flange, or (as I took the easy route) purchased un-threaded with set screws to tighten it to the existing MGA pipe that protrudes through the fender (you have to snap off the hinge for the original MGA cap.) At the time of my purchase, the set screw caps were only available with the hidden lockable insert and are extra cost because of that. The lockable insert can be unlocked and removed.

Part# for the chrome Aston cap CATASTC25L. I believe this cap style is nicer on the MGA than the Monza cap. I can email you a picture of this cap on my MGA -M.S.
