MG MGA - Moss Enigine Mounts
It seems awhile back I read that these were not to be used because of the bolts shearing off. Has anyone used them recently without issue? Are they safe to purchase again? Cheers, Christopher |

Wonder if these are oriental crap or British crap. Not something Moss would pick up unless customers gave them feedback as Barney did. Well done, Barney. Hope that wasn't the factory that makes their replacement con rod bolts..... |

Moss didn't say when I called where the source was. They actually do not have a boat date yet, just an order and a rough estimate of early March. The odd thing is that while I was on the phone they checked CA and that warehouse has 2 sets which have supposedly past a test in September 2008 at 19ft/lbs and are going to be sold. At least this is what I was told. However, there are 8 other orders in front of mine so someone on the west coast may end up with these. I'm surprised they were going to sell them still. I really hope the new ones are better. And now I have an excuse to be a month behind schedule... Christopher |

I bought a set of Moss engine mounts in the last year or two, and didn't have any problems when I tightened the nuts onto the studs. |

I just bought a set from LBC, they still have them in stock. We'll see how it goes. Thanks, Christopher |

Same as Del. I bought mine from Moss UK and fitted both mounts 18 months ago - no problems fitting or since - cheers Cam |

Just because LBCarCo has them in stock (when Moss doesn't) does not mean they are good parts. They may be the same junk parts I was dealing with last summer still left in inventory. Just last week someone bought MGA fuel line from LBCarCo and got soft copper tubing, which is illegal in the USA. That was supposed to be purged from Moss stock quite a while ago, but some seemed to be still hiding in distributors' inventory. If you get new MGA engine mounts before Moss has their new shipment, install a few flat washers and a hex nut and pull it up to the (Moss) specified 19 lb-ft torque and see what happens, before you install it on the car. |
