MG MGA - My coupé project
Just wanted to show you my recently acquired project, a 1959 1600 coupé. What have I done? :-o It will take some time before I start on it in earnest. Just now I am trying to get the complete picture, and collecting bits and pieces that are missing or damaged. A collegue commented that washing THAT car is a bit like working on the curtains before you have got the house built... Tore |

Tore, I've seen far, far worse. Why, in a couple of months you should be on the road! ;) I'm still working on finishing my 58 coupe. Glad to see another one being saved. Good luck. Gerry |

Hi Tore, Nothing to do with the car really, it's just that many years ago, I helped a Norwegian friend of mine to swap his Ford Capri Ghia to left hand drive as he was returning to Norway. His middle name was Tore (full name Jon Tore Grimsrudd). Your name just reminded me. He raced here (dirt)and also flew model aircraft to National standard in Norway. Anyway, good luck with the project, as Gerry says, there is worse. Take a look at mine when I bought it. The web address is www.mga61.freeserve.co.uk Regards, Ray. |

Hey Tore, At least yours is clean! My wife surprised me on my 50th with a present that was almost as old as me, didn't run, and could not be returned... My '59 is now running, but it has taken a new gas tank, exhaust system (still want to know how the PO bent the straight pipe from the side?), generator, regulator, radiator, battery, rebuilt carbs, master cyl/brakes, axle seals and dizzy. That does not count removal of the risers from the rear of the leaf springs or the fact that the steering wheel nut was stripped. Seems that everytime I start a new repair, the rabbit hole gets deeper and the wallet lighter. Good luck. '59 roadster John |

I don't know where you guys find project cars that have paint on them! I have a TF, MGA Coupe and MGA Roadster and none of them even had paint on them when I found them they were all early American rust color. After many hours of work they look like this...... |

Tore, I'm 18 months into my coupe restoration and yours looks better than mine. Goodluck with the restoration but it looks as though you can drive it already. Mine was saved from a farmers field in Sacramento Ca, where it spent 25 years of it's life before I rescued it. Now I'm finding out why it was abandoned for 25 years. Good luck and look forward to seeing it back on the road. Andy 60 Coupe |

Thanks everybody for comments and encouragement. How nice it is to be able to add pictures on this BBS! Tore |

Jonh; I think you have the color all wrong. It is certainly not all American rust but British Leyland racing colors---- RED OXIDE AND RUST. |
